I am Sonia Manzoor and I am originally from Bangladesh. My father worked in Sudan, Africa, as a university professor, so I grew up and started my elementary school in Sudan. We moved back to Bangladesh after its independence in 1971. After completing College in Bangladesh, I came to United States for graduate studies. I have an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University. I started my teaching career at Texas A&M and then taught at various universities including University of Missouri at Kansas City, William Jewell College, University of Kansas, Shenandoah University and Independent University in Bangladesh before joining Westminster College in 2009. My family has always been very progressive and supportive about women’s studies and career. I’m truly indebted to my parents, especially my Mother, who has been instrumental in my life by encouraging me to pursue my dreams. I really enjoy being here at Westminster College; great students, fun co-workers, and supportive administrators.
